The Founding Fathers were born again Christian conservatives?

I cannot tell whether you think that quote shows that Jefferson was, or was not, a "born again Christian." However, since the idea that being "born again" is an event which can happen during mortal existence, rather than at the end times, did not exist until the mid-20th Century, it is rather unlikely that anybody in the 1700s would have been identified as a "born again Christian."
